Peer review

The editorial staff provides reviewing of all scientific articles accepted to consideration. Peer review is carried out by independent reviewers. The whole process of peer review proceeds through the E-submission system. Reviewing in the online publication is “single-blind”, i.e. the author of the article doesn't know the reviewer's identity.

Review process and deadlines

The period for preparing one review is 2-3 weeks. Please note that the work of reviewers is carried out on a voluntary basis, and therefore the review period depends on their busyness and may be increased.

The reviewer has four options available in making the final recommendation:

  • accept;
  • accept with minor revisions – the paper is transferred to the editors after revision;
  • revise and resubmit with major corrections – the paper is submitted for review again after revision by the authors;
  • reject.

The reviewer’s report serves as a recommendation for the editors. The final decision about the publication is made by the Editorial Board.

If the manuscript is returned for revision, the authors are required to either make the edits suggested by the reviewer or provide an explanation why it is not possible. For discussion with reviewer and editor use the field “Discussion” on the article page. The deadline for resubmission may vary depending on the extent of revisions.

The online publication reviews all materials received by the editorial office if they correspond to its subject matter for the purpose of their expert assessment. All reviewers are qualified in the subject of the peer-reviewed materials and have, within the last 3 years, publications on the subject of the peer-reviewed article. The editorial office stores the reviews for 5 years.

The editors send copies of reviews or a reasoned rejection to the authors of the submitted materials.

The editors send copies of the reviews to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation if so requested by the authorities.
